Crash Kills Four  relocated from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Los Angles, CA in 2003.  The band has been in constant contact with A&R reps from many major labels and some bigger indie labels.  Recently they have had to change the band name and are now going by The Trauma Club.  Check out what is new with Jon, Jason and company at  www.thetraumaclub.com    Below is an interview Jon had before changing the name of CK4 along with press about their amazing release on Socyermom, The Guardrail that Failed.

Name?
Jonathan Kyle Washburn

How long have you been doing Ck4?
5 years

How many records have you released?
4 records and two comps

What's it like working on all of the new ck4 stuff alone?
It's hard sometimes... but very rewarding. I think it's what I do best.

Who are people that you look up to?
People taller than 6'2

Musically, I mean?
Dave Grohl, Fiona Apple, David Bowie, the guys from Air... it varies from time to time. Mainly friends that play music as well. It 's alot of fun to watch each other grow over time. You know?

What's your favorite color?
Blue. You're not very good at this "interview thing" are you?

What if I said you're not very good at it either?
I'd say you're probably right.

Should we stop here?
If you're going to keep asking stupid questions...yes. (laughing)

Maybe we should finish this later.
O.K. Can I get you something to drink?

Do you think it will help?
No

Press:

"With a name like Crash Kills Four, you might expect punk rock or metal. Or maybe some kind of twisted lounge band. But Crash Kills Four's debut CD, "Seven Songs" is none of the above. Ck4's spare, chiming sound is unlike much of what you'd call alternative these days.
"Seven Songs" has a few pop flourishes, but songs like "Sift Away" and "Here We Stand" have more atmospherics and subtlety than any current alt-rock bands. Like bands such as Jane's Addiction and Fugazi, CK4 uses dynamics and selected flashes of power rather than sustained histrionics..."

Crash Kills Four leads the locals

The Guardrail That Failed is the latest CD by local band Crash Kills Four. Released on Socyermom Records, the CD contains eight high-energy, alternative/rock 'n' roll tracks . . .

With an alternative style that can be compared to bands such as the Foo Fighters and early Smashing Pumpkins, Crash Kills Four uses great dynamics and melodies to show a wide range of passion and style. The band's intensity shows respect for the music.

"Sometimes" and "Oh My" have strong guitar melodies and climactic drum work. Powerfully bouncing back and forth from dreary segments of exasperation and wonder to mean, strong-arm bursts of rock madness, the songs are neither hard nor soft but a brilliant mixture of both.

"Paper Boat" is a slow, sad, yet heartfelt love song that puts a man's emotions on the line for the world to see. The song is honest and dazzling in an almost untouchable way: "Everyone's got a secret building bigger and bigger each day . . . what will we do if we have time for me and you?" . . .
